After attending the closing ceremony of exercise Garuda Shield in Indonesia on June 22, I arrived in the Philippines to meet with dignitaries there before heading for New Zealand and Australia where I will spend the Fourth of July, before returning to Hawaii, time zones away. I hope to return to Hawaii in time to celebrate the Fourth with Soldiers and families at Schofield Barracks.
